Nagambie on Water (NOW) Festival  Printer Friendly

The community of Nagambie pride themselves on being able to present fabulous festivals that are fun for the entire family, and as you would expect, celebrate our natural resource water and its importance to surrounding environs, culture and lifestyle in Nagambie.

In 2010 the community is planning to combine two major festivals – New Year’s Eve Fireworks display on Thursday 31st December and the Nagambie on Water (NOW) festival on Saturday 2nd January & Sunday 3rd January 2010 into one enormous weekend of family oriented fun.

It is a chance for the community to show case the offerings of this beautiful region; with gourmet food, wine, scenery, water sports, tours, art, craft and more.

The increasingly popular Fireworks over the Lake which is in its seventh year, has the fireworks being launched from the middle of the lake. This makes ita truly magical experience and the only fireworks display not restricted by total fire bans. Due to the ever expanding crowds, this year, the main festival will be held in Buckley Park. This is an alcohol free, family celebration with delicious food, live music and a fun carnival atmosphere.

After a days rest - The Nagambie On Water Festival, will be held on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd January 2010. Saturday’s events includes on water displays of wakeboarding, water skiing, jet skiing with the highlight being the Park to Pub Open water swim at Midday.

On land there is a community market in Blayney Reserve. A classic car display, carnival rides and slides, culture corner, live music, gourmet food and wine in Buckley Park; concluding with a twilight cinema.

The community is also developing for this year’s festival an art trail along the main street, fishing competition, helicopter joy rides and more.

On Sunday the pace will be a little more relaxed with a Come n Try Day offering experiences in waterskiing, jet skiing, canoeing and more.
